The UFC has often been subjected to criticism at various points in time. Right from the initial days when it was termed as ‘human cockfighting’ to date, the largest MMA promotion in the world is no stranger to controversies. A number of MMA fans from all over the world have blamed the largest MMA promotion of underpaying its fighters.

Another recent issue that has created a lot of controversies is the UFC’s ties with the infamous Chechnyan warlord, Ramzan Kadyrov. Previously, a few noted UFC fighters had been to the lands of Kadyrov as his guest. The ‘Head of the Chechen Republic’ has been accused multiple times of human rights violations. He reportedly rules Chechnya with an ‘Iron Fist’. Kadyrov’s son is an MMA practitioner and many UFC fighters have often been seen training alongside him. This often has drawn the UFC into massive criticism a number of times.

The tweet by Zidan showcased the noted UFC fighters, Petr Yan and Muhammad Mokaev with Kadyrov’s son. But he also accused a few other fighters to have ties with the Russian tyrant as well. The UFC Welterweight, Khamzat Chimaev, was probably the most prominent fighter having ties with Kadyrov.

It was a well-known fact that the MMA athlete management organization Dominance MMA had connections with the Chechnyan warlord. The head of dominance MMA, Ali Abdelaziz, had taken multiple fighters from his camp to visit the tyrant Kadyrov. These names also include the noted, UFC Lightweight, Justin Gaethje and former champ-champ, Henry Cejudo.

The UFC Flyweight contender, Muhammad Mokaev, was also spotted alongside Kadyrov’s son Ali. This made him the target of Zidan who also mentioned him in his piece. However, Mokaev saw nothing wrong with the UFC fighters helping Ali Kadyrov with his MMA training.

Mokaev replied to Zidan’s tweet, where he accused the UFC and its fighters. He wrote, “You like to steer shit up!What has this kid done to you? Or anyone? Kid is 17 years old, I have sparred with him and went same paste as I would with others. He isn’t politician.”

It was apparent that despite knowing Ali’s father’s tyrannical nature, Mokaev still didn’t see anything wrong with helping his son achieve his dream. He was too happy to ignore the fact that the Chechnyan dictator’s growing influence on the sport might cause a serious hamper in the MMA world. The Chechnyan warlord has also been witnessed in UFC events.
