UFC 275 was an event packed with action. While the event fulfilled dreams, it also broke some hearts. But, such is the nature of a sport like Mixed Martial Arts. UFC 275 saw the crowning of a new champion when Jiri Prochazka defeated Glover Teixeira for the light heavyweight crown. The event also saw UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko extend her dominant streak as she successfully defended her title against Taila Santos. Today, we will look into what could be next for the three mentioned fighters.

What’s next for Valentina Shevchenko?

When the word dominance is brought up in the sport of MMA, one can’t help but think of Valentina Shevchenko. Since winning the vacant UFC flyweight championship against Joanna Jędrzejczyk, ‘Bullet’ has defended her crown seven times. Her latest victory came against Taila Santos at UFC 275.

After her win at UFC 275, Valentina Shevchenko even dropped a hint at moving up. When asked on what was next for her, Shevchenko said, “I wanna keep going. I wanna keep improve. I wanna keep fighting no matter who. Bantamweight, Flyweight, I am here. Just bring it on.”

Shevchenko’s arch-rival Amanda Nunes will fight Julianna Pena to reclaim her bantamweight throne once again. If Nunes wins the rematch against Peña, fans could be treated to a trilogy between Shevchenko and Nunes. In case Nunes loses, a fight with Julianna Peña could be an option for Shevchenko, too.

While Shevchenko seems to have cleared out the flyweight division, that certainly is not the case. Contenders such as Alexa Grasso and Viviane Araujo are rising to provide a tough challenge to Shevchenko for her flyweight belt.

Is Valentina Shevchenko Undefeated in Her Kickboxing Career?

It will be interesting to see what Shevchenko chooses next. With the prospect of moving up or continuing her dominance in the same weight class, ‘Bullet’ definitely has a lot of options for herself.

What’s next for Glover Teixeira?

While one champion regained her belt, another champion lost it. Glover Teixeira was unsuccessful in defending his light heavyweight crown against Jiri Prochazka. Teixeira lost the fight via submission in round five.

Since then, fans have been wondering what’s next for Teixeira. While the Brazilian fighter once hinted toward retirement at the end of the year, it seems as if there is a change in plan. When asked what he would do next, Teixeira replied saying, “Did I look 42 out there? No? Then I’m going to keep going.”

When he returns, Teixeira will have a lot of interesting options available to fight. Although, it seems as if Teixeira is only interested in a rematch for the title. After his fight, Teixeira, in a tweet, said, “Rematch?? @jiri_bjp @danawhite @ufc.”

While fans will have to wait and watch to see what Teixeira does next, it will also be interesting to see whom the new UFC light heavyweight champion fights next.

What’s next for Jiri Prochazka?

One dream that was realized at UFC 275 was that of Jiri Prochazka. In his quest to win the title, Prochazka displayed impressive striking and grappling abilities. Glover Teixeira, who is known for his grappling skills lost via submission to Jiri Prochazka.

After taking some time off, Prochazka will look to defend his title in the octagon. When he decides to do that, there will be a lot of contenders willing to challenge for that belt.

As mentioned above, Jiri Prochazka has already been called out for a rematch by Glover Teixeira. However, there is another contender who has thrown in his name to fight Prochazka. That contender is none other than UFC light heavyweight fighter Jan Blachowicz. In his tweet, Blachowicz said, “Jiri, let’s do this! The Battle for Europe. The biggest fight in the Continent’s history. @jiri_bjp  @ufc @UFCEurope #UFC275.”

It’s not even a day since the fight is over and Jiri Prochazka already has contenders lined up to fight him. While it will be some time before Jiri Prochazka returns to the octagon, fans will wait to see how he fares in his first title defense against whomever he fights.
