The saga of UFC Star Jon Jones (26-1-0-1 NC) vs Bellator MMA fighter, Jake Hager (2-0-0) once came too close to manifesting. The two mixed martial artists share a common wrestling background and excelled at the sport back in their high school days.

How did Jon Jones vs Jake Hager materialize?
According to a report by thesportsroom, Jon Jones first made the announcement by calling out the AEW superstar, Hager for a friendly match-up that was originally aimed to take place in Fury Grappling.
But the AEW superstar rejected to go through with the match-up and offered his response, claiming that no deals were ever made. He also stated that his team was never contacted for the alleged grappling match and he isn’t sure what Jones is trying to say.

Jones followed it up with a dig at the former WWE superstar, suggesting that he isn’t nearly as famous as him. He also called out his fans to help the AEW star to reach the 1 million followers mark.

The Twitter banter finally ended with Jones claiming that Hager missed the opportunity of a lifetime, and he will surely live to regret it.

The MMA community is desperately waiting for the UFC star to make his return to the octagon. The 34-year-old fighter has long teased to make a jump to the heavyweight division, and it seems like in 2022 it will finally materialize.
There are a number of fantastic matchups waiting for him in the division and with the heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou being out of action for months. The promotion would be hunting for another way to keep the division moving forward, and an interim title fight is all but inevitable.
