Conor McGregor is no stranger to being in the limelight, and with the limelight comes controversies. The Irish sensation is one of the biggest names to ever compete in MMA. A former ‘champ-champ’ in the UFC, McGregor commands a large following of fans online with over 47 million followers on Instagram and over 10 million followers on X! But when he needed it, it was an unlikely ally (in hindsight) that came to his aid publicly.

McGregor has faced backlash in the past for indulging in a supposed “date night” with British pop star, Rita Ora! But surprisingly, ‘The Notorious’ found himself being defended against the online backlash by a friend who has now turned into a rival for the Irishman. Let’s take a look at what happened!

The incident involving Conor McGregor and Rita Ora took place in 2017 when the pair attended ‘The British Fashion Awards’ at London’s legendary, Royal Albert Hall. The controversy arose when Ora posted a picture of her and McGregor together online with the caption, “Date night”

The reception towards the post was largely negative as the online community showcased their concern for McGregor’s long-time partner, Dee Devlin, and his family. Scrutiny also fell on McGregor as social media users emphasized the mutual responsibility in the situation with tweets like “it takes two to tango.

But McGregor found himself being defended by an unlikely ally who stepped in to ease his partner, Dee Devlin’s concerns. Artem Lobov, a former training partner now turned bitter rival, responded at the time by stating, “Sorry Rita, Burgers are nice but not when a man has steak at home.”

The music star, on the other hand, faced backlash for her perceived involvement in a complicated situation. However, her spokesperson later clarified that the caption was just a figure of speech and Ora had also posted selfies with the same caption with other guests at the event.

Lobov’s intervention added an intriguing twist to the controversy, showcasing the complexities of relationships in the public eye, and adding a comforting touch for McGregor’s long-term partner and his family!

And in a recent update, the Irishman revealed to the world that there has been a new addition to the McGregor household!

Despite facing recent setbacks in his career in the form of a devastating injury, McGregor has received unwavering support from his partner, Dee Devlin, who has stood by him through thick and thin. Devlin, expressing her admiration, has previously referred to McGregor as her “one and only forever.”

Recently, McGregor and Devlin also welcomed a new addition to their family, a son named Mack McGregor, born in 2023. As such, Devlin took to Instagram and on a photo of McGregor with their newborn, expressing her love and admiration for him, stated, “The best daddy! We love you so much.”

With a growing family of three children and the recent addition of Mack, McGregor’s life is not only marked by his achievements in the UFC but also by the flourishing and contented family he has built together with Devlin!
