Years ago, UFC star Conor McGregor had a sparring session with Hafpor Julius Bjornsson, aka Game of ThronesSer Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane. However, according to several rumors, the UFC fighter was supposed to star in Game of Thrones. UFC President Dana White had confirmed that ‘The Notorious’ would be a part of the HBO show.

As reported by ‘For The Win‘, White revealed it on Fox Sports Live. He said, “I knew that a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show. I’m glad he did it. It’ll be great.”

Many had begun speculating about his character and look.

As per ‘Watchers on the Wall‘- a GoT community site, one of the show’s directors was a massive UFC fan. Hence, ‘The Notorious’ was offered a part to play in season 7. As per them, there were high chances of McGregor playing the role of a pirate belonging to Euron Greyjoy’s crew, on the ship Silence.

It was thought to be a small cameo role. Hence, his fans would not have to worry about his acting skills owing to the nature of the character he was supposed to play. However, the entire gig did not take place. In fact, McGregor said nobody from the show had approached him.

Has Conor McGregor rejected other acting roles?

While his GoT appearance didn’t take place, he has received other acting offers as well.

As reported by ‘Bleacher Report‘, the fighter was supposed to appear in XXX: The Return of Xander Cage starring Vin Diesel. However, he could not continue through with it because he experienced a fight loss against Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

As a result, he wanted to focus on his UFC career. ‘Mystic Mac’ fought Diaz once again at UFC 202 and defeated his opponent through a unanimous decision. Post that, he went on to capture the lightweight belt and became the double champ at UFC 205.
