Interestingly, he has defeated all his previous UFC opponents via a finish, three in the first round of the fight. Notably, Chimaev’s fame skyrocketed after he finished his last opponent in the first round at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi.

The Chechen star was also in the headline in 2018 when he went to beat up the former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor in Ireland. ‘The Notorious’ in the lead up to his highly anticipated lightweight bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov was involved in a lot of trash talk with the Russian.

The Irishman also insulted the Dagestan native and a fighter from Chechen. This didn’t sit well with ‘Borz’ and hence he went for the former champion in Ireland. In an interview with ZubaTv, Chimaev said, It is that time when he insulted Khabib, and he also was talking about Zubaira (Tukhugov).”

“At that time, nobody knew who I was. He was also talking about another guy who’s also Chechen. I don’t remember his name, but he told us he knocked him out in a sparring session,” he added.

“My mind was blowing up at the moment, but I’m living here very close to him. I was thinking that I would catch him in the streets or at the gym and beat him up. This is what he deserved. I landed in Ireland and waited in an airport,”– Chimaev concluded. (H/T: TalkSport)

However, ‘Borz’ was stopped by the police and after a few hours, he was sent back to Sweden.

Khamzat Chimaev wants the winner of the grudge match at UFC 272

‘Borz’ is hungry for more fights ever since his dominant win at UFC 267. Earlier, the promotion faced difficulties in finding a viable opponent for the Chechen star. However, he is currently in talks about a fight with Gilbert Burns.

Both the welterweight combatants have verbally agreed to fight. But the UFC is yet to make an official announcement on this clash. Although both the fighters are skilled wrestlers, Chimaev claimed Burns is an easy fight for him.
