Israel Adesanya may be one of the best UFC fighters, but for his mom, he will still be her son. Back in 2018, he did a ‘shoey’ and his mother was not happy.

Adesanya was present at UFC Adelaide a few years ago and celebrated the announcement of his fight against Anderson Silva by pouring his drink into his shoe and then drinking from it.

The Australian crowd seemed to enjoy this. While it is a tradition in Australia, Adesanya’s mother had a few things to mention, like the fighters ‘sensitive tummy’. She also advised him to ‘be you’.

‘The Last Stylebender’ shared her text messages on Twitter and wrote, “Shout out to mom xo”.

Many fans pointed out how his mother called him right after sending those messages. While it went unanswered, Adesanya gave a quick response. Several Twitter fans found his mother’s gesture endearing and further commented on how she was right.

Adesanya replied to her, “It was my shoe, I’m ok Momzilla xo”.

At UFC 234, Adesanya went on to defeat Silva, and post this, he got the title fight. The fighter not only won the title but also went on to defend his belt several times. Further, he also challenged Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title. That’s when ‘Izzy’ tasted his first fight loss.

However, he still has a spotless middleweight record. His latest fight was at UFC 271 against Robert Whittaker and he won through a unanimous decision.

What’s next for Israel Adesanya?

The fighter has faced most of the top middleweight fighters except Jared Cannonier. Cannonier too scored a spectacular win at UFC 271 against Derek Brunson. As a result, it looks like he could be the next contender.

Sean Strickland has called out the champion after a fresh win of his own and Adesanya too seems open to facing him. So a fight against Strickland in the future would be very interesting to watch. It would also be exciting to see if any middleweight fighter is able to defeat Adesanya. As of now, Adesanya looks extremely dominant. What do you think?
