The UFC intended Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling to fight each other at UFC 256. However, the bantamweight champion pulled out of the event. Subsequently, several fighters targeted the champion and continue to do so when he inserts himself in discussions. The latest incident occurred when ‘No Mercy’ inserted himself in a tweet thread featuring Henry Cejudo and Cody Garbrandt.

The world is aware of the extensive beef shared between Garbrandt and Cejudo. The fighters have a vast history of targeting each other on social media. This time, the story was no different.

‘No Love’ took a shot towards Cejudo and tweeted, “Your legacy will be written as a coward who stepped down in his prime when his biggest fights are ahead. No king steps down in his prime there is no honor in that, the self-proclaimed king is weak and sensed the declined as the divisions rise, long live the coward!!”

Promptly, the bantamweight champion slid into this conversation and seconded Garbrandt’s juncture. In the process, he also took a shot at ‘No Love’ Yan wrote, “No Chin have a good point here”.

The former bantamweight champion didn’t hold back and responded with a fiery tweet. He said, “And when will you defend yours??? We all are waiting.”

Many fans and fighters believe Aljamain Sterling would hand over ‘No Mercy’ his first UFC loss, and the champion is just not ready to take it. They think Yan is looking for ways to dodge his maiden defense. It seems that the Russian will have to fight and retain his belt to get some respite on social media.

Can Cody Garbrandt get a shot towards Petr Yan?

‘No Love’, once considered as the most ferocious bantamweights in the roster, hasn’t seen a positive run in his MMA-career since becoming the champion. He was undefeated in the UFC until he confronted TJ Dillashaw, who handed 2 losses back to back. Garbrandt even lost to Pedro Munhoz in 2019, but bounced back with a T/KO win over Raphael Assuncao to silence his critics.

The UFC lined him up to face Deiveson Figueiredo in a flyweight title fight last month, but he

pulled out of his bout for some undisclosed reasons.

Yan became the 135-pound champion by beating Jose Aldo through a vicious T/KO. He is yet to receive his first UFC loss and looks pretty adamant about sustaining his streak in the promotion. Does Garbrandt have a better chance of beating the bantamweight champion than he does the flyweight champion?

The narrative of a former champion vs the current champion would be enticing given the fact that the duo already has bad blood without being booked for a fight. Can Garbrandt regain his long-lost form and string together a series of wins? How would he fare against Yan?
