Israel Adesanya will go back to New Zealand with his middleweight strap with him after the UFC 276 win. Yet many fight fanatics were not happy with his decisive win over Jared Cannonier, since they believed he didn’t deliver on his promises made ahead of the bout. From former UFC champions to Thor: Love and Thunder star Chris Pratt, fans around the world criticized ‘The Last Stylebender‘s performance.

On ‘The Triple C and Schmo Show’ episode #38, UFC 276 Recap, ‘The Messenger‘ studied Israel Adesanya’s UFC 276 main event exhibition. ‘Triple C‘ noted, “It’s crazy when you come out to freaking ‘The Undertaker’… you didn’t put a performance man on Saturday night. It was lame, dude… Main events are special dude; If he’s not performing, UFC stop pushing this dude. He’s a decision-maker.”
After mentioning Israel Adesanya’s best outing inside the Octagon, Cejudo continued to criticize ‘The Last Stylebender‘ for his International Fight Week headliner. Besides, he pointed out a challenger who could be a serious threat to his title reign.

“I’m still not impressed with this dude. I think Alex Pereira… Both of these dudes are just strikers; with semi-good defense… I might have to go with Pereira; because Israel doesn’t – he never demonstrates any type of takedowns and things like that.”
“He hypes a lot, and he doesn’t deliver… It’s been like that with him for a minute now. And I think if you’re gonna call people out and do all this other stuff, it’s like just finish them; put a beating on people… People look forward to his entrance more than his actual fighting. And that’s a problem,” Cejudo ended his rant about Adesanya’s UFC 276 display.
Israel Adesanya dominated #2 ranked Jared Cannonier at UFC 276
Despite all the critique, the middleweight champion flourished on the judges’ scorecards to secure the fifth defense of his middleweight belt. Apart from two judges giving one round to Jared Cannonier, Adesanya banked all the rounds. Besides, he came out of the bout unscathed.

Thus, the middleweight champion would be happy with his efforts. And as far as the criticism goes, ‘The Last Stylebender’ has already shown it doesn’t bother him.
Besides, he was in a similar situation after his performance at UFC 248 against Yoel Romero, i.e. the last PPV before the pandemic in 2020. However, fans came back to support him when he dismantled his next opponent, Paulo Costa, at UFC 253 inside the Flash Forum on Fight Island. Thus, ‘Izzy’ would expect to repeat the history when he faces Alex Pereira in a future middleweight showdown.
