Jack Della Maddalena is set to make his comeback to the cage after more than a year after an injury hiatus. This weekend, while on an impressive winning streak and having defeated several formidable fighters, and despite being on the sidelines for a long time, the Australian export will be facing UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad at UFC 315. However, the challenge against him is arguably his toughest yet, and there’s no doubt about that.

Will he continue his winning ways? Only time can tell because it’s hard to predict, since he hasn’t been as active as Belal Muhammad has been. Nevertheless, for now, all we know about Jack Della Maddalena is his fighting style, credentials, and how he trains. So, without further ado, let’s take a closer look at how, where, and under whom he trains to prepare for his fights.

Where does Jack Della Maddalena train? Gym and teammates

Della Maddalena is one of the fastest-rising welterweight prospects. However, MMA was not his first love. At the outset, like several other Australians, he was interested in becoming a professional rugby player. But with time, he was more captivated by the world of combat sports. Moreover, he made his professional debut in the niche in 2016 and has managed to make a name for himself in a short space of time. As of now, he boasts an impressive record of 17 wins and only 2 defeats.

At the moment, Jack Della Maddalena continues to train in the same facility as he did when he started to compete in the sport. As per several reports, he initially trained at Scrappy MMA and Fitness in Perth, Western Australia. Safe to say, he is under the right guidance as he has attained incredible feats by training in this gym.

When it comes to his teammates, Jack Della Maddalena, he doesn’t really have any teammates who fight in the UFC. His teammates, like Anthony Drillich and Joseph Bird, are all fighting in regional promotions in Australia. However, he has trained with 2-time 145lbs champ Alexander Volkanovski at times. But there is a lot more to unpack yet. Who is the specific coach that he trains under? Let’s dive in and unwrap these questions.

Meet Ben Vickers, Jack Della Maddalena’s Australian coach

Jack Della Maddalena was sixteen years old when he walked into Scrappy MMA and Fitness to train under Ben Vickers, who also appears to be the co-owner of Eternal MMA, which is an Australian promotion where Maddalena fought back in his early years in the sport. As soon as the Perth native entered the gym, Vickers already got the nod that the 28-year-old was going to do something big.

“I’ve always known that he’s going to be amazing at this sport. He was very quiet, softly spoken, unassuming until the cage door closed, and then he was an absolute animal,” Ben Vickers stated on the UFC 315 Countdown video. Jack Della Maddalena’s coach always had the conviction that he would go to the biggest stage and fight the biggest opposition, which is what he’ll be doing this weekend against Belal Muhammad.

Guess what? Ben Vickers has laid out the game plan for Jack Della Maddalena and revealed his strategy on how he wants his fighter to approach the fight against Belal Muhammad. Let’s take a look at that front.

Maddalena’s coach reveals the strategy to beat Belal Muhammad

Jack Della Maddalena and his coach are well aware of the dangers that Belal Muhammad poses. Although he’s proved to be a well-rounded fighter, Ben Vickers knows that the champion will always stick to his game plan and wrestle his way to victory, and guess what? Maddalena’s coach wants ‘Remember the Name’ to do exactly that.

“Belal is clearly very, very good. Jack’s clearly a better striker than Belal. I know for a fact that Belal’s going to go to his strength. These are the exchanges I want. When Belal’s hands are low, they’re messy. His chin’s up in the air. He has amazing wrestling and has great cardio and a will to win,” Maddalena’s coach stated on the Countdown video.

Nevertheless, Jack Della Maddalena’s coach believes that he has the ability to cancel Belal Muhammad’s grappling, and that’s how the 28-year-old will take Muhammad out. “I see Jack frustrating Belal, making him tired in grappling exchanges, and then landing damage constantly on the feet. Eventually, it’ll be enough to put Belal away,” Ben Vickers added.

Well, it all comes down to the fight this weekend. It will be interesting to see how things pan out when the cage door locks. Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
