It’s been well over a month since the son of UFC legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Raja Jackson, attacked army veteran and pro wrestler Stuart Smith, aka ‘Syko Stu.’ The incident unfolded during a Knokx Pro Wrestling event in Sun Valley, California, where Jackson slammed and punched Syko Stu over 20 times in the head after Smith struck him with a beer can backstage in a scripted misunderstanding.

The attack was broadcast on a Kick livestream, showing Smith being knocked unconscious during the ordeal. He was later rushed to a hospital, where doctors revealed the extent of his severe injuries. As of the time of writing, Stuart Smith continues to recover after the brutal attack. Initially, after being admitted to the hospital, his brother Andrew revealed Syko Stu was “stable but in critical care” and “does have some recollection of events from the day of the attack.” However, he was later allowed to go home and continue his recovery. 

Fellow wrestler Douglas Malo, who helped pull Jackson off Smith, told TMZ Sports on October 10 that he doubts Stu will ever wrestle again. “I don’t even think it would be smart at this point,” Malo told the news outlet. Malo added that Smith had “already been dealing with the effects of a lifelong career on the mats.”

Despite the seriousness of the injuries, Smith is said to be conscious and resting. Malo shared that an upcoming wrestling event will honor Stu, saying, “I can’t wait to hug the guy… that’ll give me some closure.” This begs the question: how serious were Stu’s injuries?

The attack left Stu with multiple serious injuries. Doctors confirmed a fracture to the maxilla bone, which led to the loss of several teeth.

According to the National Library of Medicine, “the maxilla… contributes to the formation of the oral and nasal cavities and the orbit,” and damage to it can impair speech, breathing, and chewing. The 25-year-old son of Rampage Jackson was initially arrested in September and released on $50,000 bail. Prosecutors assigned to the case have filed an enhancement, which could help send Jackson to prison for seven years if he is convicted.
