Jamahal Hill knows he is special. Armed with supreme self-confidence and an easy swagger that comes with it, ‘Sweet Dreams’ is always exciting to watch. After all, the striker is a veritable knockout artist and a man who doesn’t waste time in the Octagon, both attributes that fans love.

Is Jamahal Hill a Christian?
We do not know anything concrete about Jamahal Hill’s faith. It seems that the Chicago native was born into a Christian household, but whether he is a practicing Christian remains unknown at the moment. The American seems to want to keep his personal life private and hasn’t talked about his faith.
Hill grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and then moved from Chicago when he was twelve years old, and spent most of his life there. But ‘Sweet Dreams’ didn’t start training martial arts until he was nineteen. The most fateful moment of his life came when he and coach Chad Pomeroy started a free thirty-day Aikido program at the Toyota Center in Michigan.

One day, the coach saw a tall, lanky, and athletic guy come into his gym to train and was soon impressed with Hill’s athleticism and dedication to the sport. Pretty soon, ‘Sweet Dreams’ was on the amateur MMA circuit, causing mayhem and knocking out opponents left and right. In 2017, at the age of twenty-six, Hill took the plunge and turned pro, going on to become a UFC champion just five years later.

Jamahal Hill’s early life and background
Jamahal Hill came to martial arts quite late, as we have already mentioned. In fact, ‘Sweet Dreams’ had aspirations of becoming a basketball player and making it to the NBA. The Chicago native played hoops at his Rogers High School and even mulled going to Davenport University on a basketball scholarship.

However, something had changed by the time Hill was making this decision- he had fallen in love with mixed martial arts. The light heavyweight had seen Anderson Silva knockout Forrest Griffin at UFC 101 in 2008, which he found so intriguing and exciting that he wanted to become a mixed martial artist. While Hill always believed he was going to be a champion athlete, he now knew which sport in.

“I played other sports. And I always knew, even as a kid, I’d be a world champion. That was whatever sport I decided I was going to play. Regardless of what I did, I knew I was going to be one of the best. I knew I was going to be a champion in it [MMA],” Hill would recall in an interview with ‘Bleacher Report’.
