Jon Jones is considered one of the greatest fighters in UFC history. This is because the American holds a terrific record of 26-1-0 in his MMA career, and he’s been a light heavyweight kingpin for ages.
The 33-year-old legend is one of the most dangerous fighters inside the octagon who has made history in a brief span of time in the promotion.
One of the major reasons the American is amazing inside the octagon is his wrestling techniques and skills. Jones has been wrestling with his brothers from the time when he was a kid and looks like the legendary fighter has been trained well.
To top it all off, both his brothers are no less than legends in their own areas of sports.
Bones has two brothers, Arthur and Chandler Jones. Arthur Jones is his elder brother, who has been a famous member of NFL teams like the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Football Club. Arthur admitted that he used to wrestle with the MMA fighter and always had an upper hand in the fights.
This is what Jon Jones said in one of his interviews:- “My brother is one of the best heavyweights in New York state wrestling history and I would wrestle him every day in high school and I would get my ass kicked by my older brother my whole life.
“I used to train with Travis Browne, Andrei Arlovski, so many great heavyweights for years. So I’m very comfortable going against guys that are bigger and stronger than me.”
Jones’ younger brother is also a part of the NFL and is on his way to greatness in the sport. The 29-year-old Chandler led the NFL with 8 forced fumbles and tallied a career-high 19 sacks for his 5th straight double-digit sack season.
This is what the American MMA fighter said:- “The nerves — all this stuff is exactly what I live for. I believe that I was born to do it. I believe my little brother was born to be a great football player.
“My older brother was born to be a great football player. I believe that I was born to be one of God’s soldiers in the martial arts cage.”
There is no doubt that the brothers are proud of each other and have been supporting each other right from the beginning. It would not be wrong to say that the Jones brothers are destined for greatness.
This is what the #2 ranked pound for pound fighter in the UFC said about how his brothers helped him in becoming the champion:-
“My brothers and I guess I just became really comfortable and familiar with his you know combat. We’re not and I just remember my friend I’ve grown up wrestling.
“The wrestling is pretty similar to an actual fight. You know it’s the fight without kicking and punching and you know tapping each other out. I remember my very first MMA practice. When you know decided I wanted to give it a try.
“I was just a natural at it the guys were asking me. They said John you know where’d you train before you got here. That’s actually I’ve never really been in a like you know a real fight”
There is no doubt that Jon Jones is one of the best MMA fighters that the sport has ever seen. With all the hard work and support that he has received from his brothers, he has already solidified his legacy in the UFC as the GOAT.
