Jan Blachowicz has stunned not just his fans but also other fighters with his latest fight performances. Overshadowed by other famous fighters, he shocked the world by winning the light heavyweight title at UFC 253 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. With this win, he broke the Daniel Cormier-Jon Jones duopoly at light heavyweight.

Jan Blachowicz beat Dominick Reyes to become the UFC light heavyweight champion. Despite being an amazing fighter himself, Blachowicz was not really favored to win. However, he was well-prepared for the fight. Within 4 minutes and 36 seconds of their 2nd round, he managed to knockout Reyes and win the light heavyweight belt.

After winning the title, Blachowicz called out Jon Jones. He said, “The only things in my mind is, Jon Jones, where are you? This is how we do it in Poland. I’m waiting for you.”

Jones wrote on Twitter to congratulate Blachowicz’s victory.

Powerful strikes by Jan Blachowicz

Blachowicz is called ‘The Polish Power’ for a reason. In the octagon, he landed many powerful left body kicks on Reyes’ right rib cage. This caused a massive welt on his body that was clearly visible. Reyes also seemed to be struggling against Blachowicz’s force.

During the fight, Blachowicz also delivered a right hand to Reyes’ face, which not just injured him but also broke his nose. Later on, it was revealed that Reyes was heavily injured. He could not stand for the post-fight decision. Hence, it was clear that Blachowicz’s offense was loaded with insane power.

Given Reyes’ showing against Jon Jones at UFC 247, fans did not expect the fight to play out the way it did.

After winning the belt, Blachowicz also fought against Israel Adesanya at UFC 259 to defend his title. He won the fight and also broke the former undefeated middleweight champion’s 21 fight win streak.

Now, he will look to retain his title at UFC 267 against Glover Teixeira. His return to the country where he became the champion could spur him to raise his game against the Brazilian. Perhaps, he could look to eclipse his UFC 253 showing on October 30.
