Aleksandar Rakic has been entertaining the fighting community with his impressive fighting skills ever since he began his professional MMA journey in 2011. With 14 victories under his belt, the Austrian fighter has also faced about 4 losses. And just like any other mixed martial artist, ‘Rocket’ wasn’t free from injuries.

Thankfully, Rakic had all the support he needed to recover from his torn ACL, and most of the credit goes to his significant other, Melanie Rakic. #5 ranked UFC light heavyweight Aleksandar Rakic is married to Melanie Rakic, with whom he has a child. While he prefers to keep his personal life private, he has revealed that they first met almost a decade ago in 2014.

Although not much is known about Melanie, she is an Austrian national like her husband. According to her Facebook profile, she attended the Bundesgymnasium, a public school in the Austrian capital of Vienna. After completing her education, she went on to work at an Australian regional health insurance fund, Wiener Gebietskrankenkasse.

She’s also active on Instagram by the name of ‘rakicmeli.’ She has about 6217 followers, and of course, her bio gives a shoutout to the ‘Rocket’. Taking to IG, she has often posted beautiful moments that she had with her husband and her child.

They have a young son named Andrej, and while his exact date of birth is unknown, a look at their social media posts reveals that he was born before their engagement. Melanie has been supportive of her husband’s MMA dream and helped him recover from the serious knee injury he suffered in his last fight.

Melanie Rakic’s role in Aleksandar’s recovery

Prochazka is not the first former champion Aleksandar Rakić has fought. He took on former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz at a UFC Fight Night bout in May 2022. Unfortunately, Rakic tore the ligaments in his right knee and suffered a third-round knockout loss to the Pole.

He flew to his hometown of Vienna after the fight and had his knee operated on by renowned surgeon Dr Michael Liska. While the surgery initially restricted the Austrian to his bed, his recovery progressed quicker than expected. He was able to walk on crutches and do light exercises within a few days. The father of one attributed his quick recovery to the support he received from his wife, Melanie, and felt that her love and support put him in a good state of mind and accelerated the healing process.

Now, Rakic is all set to fight Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 308. Currently on a 2-fight losing streak, the Austrian will definitely try his best to claim a victory at Etihad Arena, United Arab Emirates. No doubt, his wife and son would be the ones to cheer the loudest for Rakic.
