Movsar Evloev is a rising star in the UFC. The undefeated Russian has made waves in the featherweight division, being ranked #9 in only six fights in the promotion. In addition, the 29-year-old has a championship pedigree, having won the M-1 Global bantamweight title previously. But he has come into controversy after revealing how he met his wife in a recent livestream.

As he sets up to face Arnold Allen, in a potential title eliminator at UFC 297 on Sunday in the Scotiabank Arena Toronto, Canada, let us take a look at his life and career.

Movsar met wife when she was a minor

Movsar Evloev was born in Ordzhonikidzevskaya in the Russian province of Ingushetia. An ethnic Chechen, Evloev is a devout Muslim. While the undefeated Russian is a computer programmer and lawyer by education, little is known about his family since he prefers to keep his personal life private.

The 29-year-old has a famous brother, Musa Evloev, who is an Olympic gold medallist and multiple-time world champion wrestler. Putting an end to speculations on the subject, Movsar confirmed in a recent interview with streamer Sneako that he is, in fact, married and has four kids with his wife.

Sneako streams on Rumble and regularly makes content about relationship advice and dating. In his recent stream with Movsar, the Russian gave him some controversial advice on relationship and marriage. He revealed that he got married to his wife when she was 17 and he was 23.

The featherweight claimed that he decided to marry his wife after meeting her only once after only two weeks. This, of course, did not go down well with fans who accused him of having groomed his now 23-year-old wife. However, Evloev will probably not be paying attention to this criticism right now as he is less than two days away from the most important fight of his career so far.

Evloev will take on #3 ranked Arnold Allen at UFC 297, the promotion’s first pay-per-view event of 2024 as it returns to Canada after six years. A victory would undoubtedly put Evloev in immediate title contention. Although Allen lost his previous bout against former champion Max Holloway, he would undoubtedly be the most challenging opponent in Evloev’s career to date.

One take at a time

Hi, I am Kanishk and I am a UFC Writer at EssentiallySports. I love telling the stories of these magnificent fighters and this wildly unpredictable sport that is so frustrating and yet so joyous at the same time. I never really used to watch MMA, thinking it too crude or brutal a sport to deserve respect.
