UFC bantamweight star Sean O’Malley is quickly becoming a target for the rest of the division. ‘Suga’ occupied the #1 spot on the rankings after edging past Petr Yan at UFC 280 last October. Although he angled for a fight against the champion Aljamain Sterling, the 28-year-old will have to wait longer. According to recent reports, Sterling will face the returning Henry Cejudo in May for his next title defense. However, that does not mean a lack of competition for O’Malley.

Rising contender and Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s cousin Umar Nurmagomedov has boldly called out O’Malley. The 27-year-old is currently riding a perfect 16-0 pro record. His last win in the octagon came against Raoni Barcelos at UFC Vegas 67. 4-0 in the UFC, the Dagestani is hungry to climb up the ladder and face elite competition. Therefore, he did not hesitate to fire shots at O’Malley when the opportunity presented itself.
