Moneyberg already had a bad reputation in the BJJ community after receiving a black belt in just three and a half years, which is far quicker than most practitioners. This promotion got people talking, as many pointed out that Moneyberg has never competed, and no sparring footage of him exists. Gordon Ryan, however, defended the promotion.

“If he had to compete against an average black belt… he’d probably beat him up to be honest.” But BJJ accomplishments aside, Moneyberg is taking legal action against Strickland.
