Several Twitter users questioned why Baylor Fernandes was not suspended after his repeated attempts to hurt other athletes. They believe that the coach should bench him, and if not, then the NCAA authorities should intervene. One Twitter user even went as far as to compare this incident to the time when a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter allegedly tried to hurt UFC fighter Sean Strickland during a sparring session.
