Colby Covington is such a fighter who is no stranger to controversies, as he doesn’t waste time to trash-talk about his rivals. One such incident which took place back in 2017, in Sydney, reminds fans of the cross between Fabricio Werdum and ‘Chaos’.
The former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum was in Sydney, ahead of his Fight Night clash against Marcin Tybura. Incidentally, an exchange of bitter words led to Werdum throwing a bag with a boomerang at Covington.

By the time, UFC lightweight prospect Dan Hooker publically shared a video capturing this incident.
According to the report by 9News.au, Colby Covington and Fabricio Werdum became involved in a war of words.
Per the above mentioned report, Werdum told reporters, “He say ‘Brazilian animals’ and he look at me, and I say ‘what’?… He kicked me in my leg. A good kick, but I blocked it.”

Fabricio Werdum and Colby Covington reveal their side of the stories on the Boomerang incident
Fabricio Werdum’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, told ESPN that Werdum didn’t punched Covington. “The kid just wants to make a name for himself… Fabricio is 250 pounds. If he had punched Colby in the face, he’d be knocked out or in a hospital.” said Ali Abdelaziz.
Later, Werdum came out to tell his side of the story.
Conversely, Covington said that he was there in Sydney with Jorge Masvidal (back when they were friends) to promote this UFC event which nobody knew about.
“Fabrizio’s making up these ridiculous stories when it’s all in-camera so you can’t hide from the truth… I’m outside waiting curbside to get in my taxi and I’m looking down my Twitter and I’m talking shit to Tyron Woodley…’ hey Tyron stop being scared’. And out of nowhere, boom, I get hit across the face,” said Covington to Ariel Helwani in an interview.
