Although trash talking is a vital part of the MMA, UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal believes there should always be a fine line, while trash-talking refers to his recent altercation with his arch-rival Colby Covington. ‘Gamebred’ also pointed out the recent Oscar controversy between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

‘Gamebred’ recently appeared in the latest episode of the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul. On the podcast, the Floridian talked about a variety of topics including his UFC career, a recent altercation with his rival Colby Covington, the Oscar incident, and more.

During the conversation, Paul’s long-time friend and co-host Mike Majlak asked Masvidal for his views on the Oscar incident where actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on the stage. Majlak also revealed a similar incident where a rapper heckled a comedian on stage.

Masvidal responded by saying, “Man, I think that line varies from everything you know. Like from comedians right, their line’s gonna be different, maybe than two scientists that work together something like that. I think there’s gonna be lines in all fields. Lines that you just don’t cross it.”

He added, “I don’t care how much I dislike any of you here. I am not gonna talk about none of your moms, you kids. I don’t care about your significant other. If my problems with you, then you I come at. Especially in sports right like there is two football players that on the line.”

“And then you just talking shit to each other to get inside each other’s heads. It’s part of sports. I don’t mind sh*t talking at all to me or about me or anything like that. I definitely think there has to be some lines draw,” Masvidal concluded.

Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington: The rivalry

‘Gamebred’ and ‘Chaos’ were very close friends during their initial UFC days. They even lived together under one roof. However, over time, their friendship turned into one of the most vicious rivalries in the history of the UFC.

Both the welterweight combatants never left a chance to take a dig at each other in their media appearances. Finally, in March 2022, Masvidal and Covington took their beef inside the UFC cage.

Their fight headlined the UFC 272 pay-per-view and carried a lot of hype. And interestingly, it delivered. Both the welterweights fought for the whole five rounds. However, Covington had done enough to receive a nod from the judges. He won the fight via a unanimous decision.

However, their beef wasn’t over. In the lead-up to the fight, Masvidal and Covington indulged in heavy trash talk. And a few words from Covington didn’t sit well with the Floridian. Consequently, ‘Gamebred’ allegedly attacked ‘Chaos’ outside a Miami Beach restaurant.

Although the fight is over, the beef between them is still on. Hence, we might probably see another showdown between the two welterweights.
