The flyweight division of UFC has turned over a new leaf ever since dominant champions ‘Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson and ‘The Messenger’ Henry Cejudo left. The entire weight class opened for new surging talents, looking to make their name in the promotion.

UFC first crowned Deiveson Figueiredo as its flyweight champion. In 2021, his title reign was cut short by Mexican mixed martial artist, Brandon Moreno.

The two fighters have already faced each other on two separate occasions, with the first fight ending in a draw and Moreno securing the victory with a submission in the rematch.

UFC 270 to decide the fate of flyweight division

Figueiredo is looking to recapture his gold in the upcoming week. The 34-year-old mixed martial artist only registered one title defense under his name before dropping it at UFC 263. The rematch did not go the way Figueiredo had intended, as Moreno out-struck and out-wrestled him.

Flyweight fighters are well known for showcasing insane high pace fighting styles that no other weight class can match.

Moreno showed great pace in his last outing and managed to tire the former champion out. By the time the third round kicked on, ‘Daico’ was visibly fatigued, and that led to the fateful takedown in the third. This time around as well, the high volume and a similar pace will play a big role in the fight.

It looks like Figueiredo’s camp has also acknowledged that error and has put in the work to combat the error. The former champion is in phenomenal shape and he is just 9 pounds away from the Flyweight limit. Will the title match end in the favor of the former champ or will we see Moreno keeping the title?
