Fourteen post-fight bonuses in as many UFC appearances – that’s nearly a million dollars raked in just from the bonuses. So, it’s no wonder people love to watch Justin Gaethje. Daniel Cormier describes him as “your favorite fighter’s favorite fighter.” As it turns out, he might be your favorite commentator’s favorite fighter too – because Joe Rogan, arguably the most popular MMA commentator of all time, loves ‘The Highlight!’
One of Gaethje’s cornermen clicked a picture of the #3 lightweight contender during his Octagon interview with Rogan at the recently concluded UFC 313 and shared the picture through Gladiators Unleashed’s Instagram Story. The caption to the Story read, “This will never get old!,” and tagged ‘The Highlight’ and Rogan. But guess what happened next…
Soon after the cornermen shared the picture, the UFC color commentator reposted the moment on his IG Story. And just 2 hours later, it was Gaethje’s turn to put it up on his Instagram account. Needless to say, being in the sport for so long has made the duo develop nothing but admiration for each other. And this was just one of the ways by which Rogan and Gaethje expressed their feelings.

Gaethje has been rocking the world of mixed martial arts since 2008. He had already made a name for himself at the World Series of Fighting by winning the championship title and defending it successfully for 5 consecutive fights. And then, ‘The Highlight’ graced the Octagon at UFC 218, after winning the Performance of the Night and the Fight of the Night bonus at the TUF 25 finale. Since then, it has been about 8 years of him entering the Octagon, winning a bonus, and chatting with Rogan in the Octagon.

When Joe Rogan revealed his true feelings about Justin Gaethje
On episode #1455 of the JRE, Rogan sat down together with Lex Fridman and talked about Gaethje. The 57-year-old podcaster said, “Justin Gaethje, he’s a monster. Justin Gaethje, he is a monster. He’s a monster. He’s a terrifying individual. He is. I mean, in a sport that’s violent, it’s an inherently violent sport, he stands out as the most violent. You know how crazy that is.”
Rogan claimed that ‘The Highlight’ usually had a calculated way to his fights. Taking the win over Edson Barboza at UFC on ESPN 2, the JRE host pointed out that even though the first-round knockout win seemed reckless, it was actually a well-calculated move. He was also the one who started Tony Ferguson’s losing spree. Aside from that, Rogan also disliked the idea of Gaethje’s BMF title defense against Max Holloway. This showed how much he liked the Arizona-born fighter.
