The UFC CEO, Dana White, of course, is a pioneer in two combat sports now- MMA and Slap Fighting. And the only reason he has come even close to lacing up the gloves was during his heated feud with former champion Tito Ortiz almost two decades ago (when he famously started to train for a boxing match against him).

However, thankfully, the Las Vegas resident is not engaging in any combat sports and will have what can only be described as a ‘card battle’, instead. On his recent Instagram Story, White shared a post from the ‘Fanatics Live’ Instagram channel, which announced that he will be taking on ‘Fanatics’ (a global sports broadcast platform) CEO Michael Rubin on May 31.

The two, according to the post, will be going head-to-head on May 31, opening packs of cards from the ‘Topps UFC Midnight’ hobby set (which comes along with other collectibles in the set), with the live stream voting who the winner is based upon the fighters they get.

“Dana White VS. Michael Rubin will be ripping packs of @topps UFC Midnight and the winner will ultimately be decided by YOU the livestream audience,” the caption said.

And Dana White is looking forward to their contest, issuing a challenge to Rubin, writing “Bring that sh** @michaelrubin,” on his Story. And fans, of course, were delighted and took to the comments section of the original Instagram post to give their own (hilarious) advice.

Fans react to Dana White UFC card battle

One fan encapsulated Dana White’s upcoming ‘card battle’ with Rubin perfectly, appointing out, “So they are just opening cards lol.” Another fan reflected the overwhelming fan sentiment by observing: “This is about to be the lamest thing ever.”

Another fan agreed with this assessment and referenced the famous meme about Dana White doing the rounds by writing: “No one cares we wanna see him oiled up and fighting someone.” One Instagram user admirably managed to take a shot not only at Dana White’s card battle but also at Powerslap: “this might be worse than powerslap.”

Another suggested that the duo could fight instead: “This is dumb. Can they just do a few rounds in the ring instead?” One fan felt that a kind of fantasy UFC draft, where each man picked five fighters, with fans deciding who wins would be a more entertaining affair for all involved: “I’d rather see @danawhite choose 5 fighters and @michaelrubin chooses 5 fighters and they have a tournament. First to 3 wins.”

One fan took a shot at the UFC boss’ famous stinginess and the perennial issue of fighter pay in the UFC with their comment: “Dana paying more for cards than to his fighters.” Another felt that the fight would be more interesting if White and Rubin took each other on in slap fighting: “I’d pay to see them slap fight.”

All in all, despite raking up millions in UFC revenue, the CEO’s latest venture has not been widely accepted by the fans. But we are interested to know your takeaway on the whole ordeal! State your thoughts below in the comments.
