Australian fighter, Robert Whittaker (23-5-0) will look to once again stake his claim at the UFC gold, after dropping the title to Stylebender at UFC 243 in 2019. At that time, the Australian native was riding high on an impressive 9 fight win streak.
On the other hand, Israel Adesanya (21-1-0) has become a formidable opponent since and is still unbeaten at middleweight. The Last Stylebender has defended his title 3 times already and is heading into a rematch to close out his rivalry with the former champion.
Robert Whittaker believes he has the blueprint to beat Israel at UFC 271
Since 2019, Adesanya has accumulated 3 wins and one loss against the former light-heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz, at UFC 259 in 2021. The polish powerhouse utilized his size and superior wrestling and foiled Adesanya’s attempt of becoming a two-divisional champion. In a recent conversation with MMA Junkie, Whittaker stated that Blachowicz’s win exposed a game plan that can work against the middleweight champion.

“Yes, certainly, I think I have said it before, Jan has set a blueprint on how to beat him, you know? But again, I don’t have the same skill sets and tools that Yan does. I don’t have the Polish power and the Polish head. You know he’s a tough guy. So, I am gonna utilize what I have.”
“Definitely, we saw that Izzy is much less dangerous off his back, still dangerous but less dangerous. So if I am a strategist, I’d be writing down all the points which Jan utilized to take that win and putting it on my own.”
