The UFC Fight returned to The Long Island, New York show after 2017 with a splendid headliner between Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez. While the event was catching a lot of attention for its return to ABC, the faceoff between the Mexican stars had fans buzzing. However, it wasn’t because of any scuffle or back and forth during the ceremonial weigh-ins.

The Reddit MMA world pointed out the weird UFC stat of these two UFC athletes. In the official UFC athlete profile, El Pantera‘s height is noted as 71”, while T-City’s height is mentioned as 68”. However, during the faceoffs, the two seemed relatively closer in height than the mentioned stats.

A Reddit thread had a few interesting takes for UFC making such an error for their return card to ABC.

One Reddit user wrote, “Always thought Ortega was way taller than 5’8” didn’t look too short against Holloway and seemed to dw*rf Volk.”

“Lmao ufc heights are a joke”, wrote another Reddit user.

One user recalled the time when the UFC had a former heavyweight title challenger’s height mishap, “Remember when Shane Carwinn was billed as 6″5?”

Another user responded to them,“5’11 Anderson Silva 6’5 Shane Carwin”

Another submitted that #3 ranked featherweight perhaps used some other profile info, “Yair put his Tinder height.”

Anyhow, these two fighters are making a run for the featherweight strap held by the Australian champion, Alexander Volkanovski.

Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez didn’t want to fight each other

The #2 ranked featherweight fighter Brian Ortega and #3 Yair Rodriguez both represent Mexico. Besides, both share a cordial bond with each other.

Ahead of the bout, while doing a faceoff interview, T-City described the incident when he got the call to fight a fellow Mexican athlete.

“They called me; they told me, ‘hey man, you know, we got your next opponent’. And my first thing was like, is there anyone else?” Ortega said in the faceoff interview with ESPN.

Ortega knew with both fighters being top of the featherweight division, a matchup between them was inevitable. Thus, he accepted the bout with a heavy heart. Yet these two are ready to put on a show on UFC’s return to ABC.
