Dr. David Abbasi gave a medical breakdown on Rodriguez’s injury on YouTube. According to him, capillaries on his foot might have burst because of repetitive trauma. He said, “Yair Rodriguez was doing repetitive kicks, so that would be a reason to rupture or you know, damage some of those capillaries.”

He further said, “When the capillary damages, basically now you have like a leaking faucet. So, the artery no longer is getting into this nice capillary. The blood can continue to disperse out.”

He explained that most fighters use their metatarsal, and cuneiform bones to kick. Hence, those bones can fracture, contuse, or experience bruising or swelling. X-rays and MRIs might be required to know if his bones are actually broken.
