ESPN recently posted a clip of UFC 248 on Instagram and captioned, “When you and your friend are trying to figure out the controller buttons.” The video showed Israel ‘The Stylebender’ Adesanya and Yoel Romero in the Octagon. However, instead of fighting, they were only moving around and changing stances.

Israel Adesanya: His debated victory

The victory of ‘Stylebender’ over Romero is still a debate among the fans. Romero’s reputation as one of the toughest men in the UFC didn’t even get a chance for a showcase. Izzy evaded him throughout the match. Although Adesanya won the bout, the fight wasn’t exciting for the audience. 

Surprisingly, the UFC president, Dana White, also admitted to regretting the matchmaking. “The matchmakers didn’t love that fight and didn’t want to make that fight,” he said, “But the goofy fan in me said, ‘Are you s**ting me? Come on. This will be a fun fight to do, the fact that he wants to fight a guy who nobody wants to fight.’” White’s regret in replacing Paulo Costa with Romero was acknowledged by the fight fans.
