Certain love stories within the realm of the UFC are cherished by fans, and standing above them is the heartwarming tale of Dustin Poirier and Jolie Poirier. The couple has been together for a long time, and their story is equally captivating. Since day one, Jolie has been the unwavering support system that the former interim lightweight champion needed in his life. In his latest confession, Poirier revealed how his significant other has supported him through thick and thin.

While having a conversation on ‘Outta Pocket with RGIII,’ Dustin Poirier highlighted that back when he was in juvenile detention because of some troublesome stuff, the only person other than his mother who cared for him was Jolie, “When I was in juvenile detention — and me and her might not have been dating at the time — she was writing me letters every week. Besides my mother, the only letters I was getting was [from] her.”

He further added that when he was released from detention, the only person who came to pick him up and meet him was none other than Jolie, who was eagerly waiting for his return.

“And when I got out of juvenile detention, she was there. She drove all the way out to watch me leave and stuff like that, and I was like, ‘I’m going to marry this girl.” Dustin Poirier has experienced both the highs and lows of the fight game—and life. His life was never stable as the divorce of his parents, as well as his troublesome past, has always wavered his mindset. However, even in his harsh times, Jolie stood beside him. The UFC lightweight star admitted, “For sure, the letters were always there. She would always reply. I don’t even know how she got the address or all this stuff like that, but she did, and she was always there.

Dustin Poirier might have been someone entirely different if not for the unwavering support of his wife. Interestingly, in one of his confessions, ‘Diamond’ shared an anecdote from his childhood.

Dustin Poirier shares a shocking confession about his childhood

‘The Diamond’ once shared a story of his past where he emphasized that he was arrested by the cops when he was just 10. Why? Well, the young fighter participated in an unauthorized boxing event. In middle school, Poirier caught himself in a series of serious offenses when he severely ruptured the tooth of an older kid in an impromptu boxing match.

While having a conversation with the media, the former interim lightweight champion revealed, “I was in a lot of street fights when I was younger. I got into them when I was younger, then plenty through high school, and it was always something I was good at. It’s weird to say, but I found a sense of calm in the chaos. I enjoy that about fighting. I dropped out in the ninth grade. I went to juvenile detention around my freshman year, and things just got complicated.”
