Remember Yoel Romero? What if we told you that the former middleweight title contender never lifted weights to build that insane physique? Shocking, right? It’s almost like the laws of science don’t apply to him. Nicknamed “The Cuban Experiment,” Romero has long been one of MMA’s most feared and fascinating athletes. And recently, The Soldier of God stunned fans once again—this time during a cold plunge.

Since leaving the UFC, Romero has explored new arenas—successfully competing in Bellator and now dabbling in underground boxing as a free agent. While he never secured a UFC title, Romero’s legacy was built on fearsome performances. His wars with prime Paulo Costa and Israel Adesanya proved that age was just a number—he took both men to the brink despite being years their senior.

On a podcast with Joe Rogan, Masvidal reminisced about Romero’s freakish aura. Rogan admitted, “The only guy who freaked me out was Yoel Romero. He looked so big at 185 pounds, you’re like, ‘How is that 185? How is that even possible?’ He looks like a heavyweight.” And all this while later, he is still proving that age, weight, time – these are all just numbers for him.

In a video uploaded by MMA Uncensored, the 47-year-old was seen stepping into an ice bath for muscle recovery, still looking absolutely shredded. In the background, Jorge Masvidal made a brief appearance. The caption read: “47-year-old Yoel Romero arrives at the Russian TUF house JAKKED AF.”

Masvidal, who’s known Romero since his arrival in America, had also doubled down on his incredible physique earlier: “I was a fan before he got here. I remember watching him in the Olympics. My whole Cuban family—everyone was cheering for this dude. He’s cut from that Roy Jones Jr.-type cloth.”  His recent video has caused quite a stir on social media, with fans rubbing their eyes in disbelief at the shape Romero is in. Let’s take a look at what the MMA community had to say about it.

Fans couldn’t believe their eyes as Yoel Romero showed off his physique

When Yoel Romero first joined the UFC, he underwent a medical examination by the promotion’s doctor. When the results came in, the doctor was so shocked that he immediately called the UFC’s top brass. Why? Because the doctors were convinced that Romero wasn’t entirely human. His muscle composition, reflexes, and recovery rate were so extraordinary that they sparked widespread speculation. Remembering this, a fan wrote, “Bro is just a giant cuban tank.” Another social media user too capitalized on Yoel Romero’s “Cuban genes.”

A curious fan asserted, “Just think how good that fight against Izzy could have been if Romeo was switched on and hungry.” For context, Romero’s fight against Israel Adesanya was his last in the UFC. Despite both fighters being highly skilled strikers, the fight was turning into a snoozefest. Why? Because neither of them was willing to attack first—they were both waiting for the other to make a move so they could counter. The match became so slow and cautious that the referee had to step in and remind them that they were there to fight.

Another social media user believes that Romero is on some substance, “Looking juicy still.” But let us remind you that the fighter has been clean throughout his MMA career. In fact, he even famously won a lawsuit against a supplement company after proving that a tainted supplement caused a failed drug test, further reinforcing his claims of being clean.

Another fan was concerned about Romero’s existence in Russia’s alternative to TUF, “What’s he doin in feckin Russia with those Scutters!” Last but not the least, a fan added, “Jacked as f—, he has always been jacked what’s changed.”

At the age of 47, Yoel Romero is still moving forward to make a name for himself in the MMA world. Given that, what are your thoughts on his physique? Chime in below!
