After not getting a much needed fight against Khamzat Chimaev, Kamaru Usman has fixed his gaze on none other than Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson. The anticipation is yet to be built as the welterweight saga is still developing. ‘Wonderboy,’ who canceled his fight with Michel Pereira after the latter failed to make weight as well, is looking for a challenging foe. He even agreed to face Usman in one of his previous interviews.

However, after the defeat against Leon Edwards, Usman also looks forward to facing an opponent, defeating who would catapult him to the vanguard. Additionally, the current scenario became a matter of discussion for two of the renowned UFC veterans. Yet another YouTube conversation showcased their words as they especially emphasized Thompson’s prospect.

Two celebrated UFC legends, Josh Thomson and John McCarthy, went on to shed light on the ongoing saga. They discussed which crucial step Thompson should take, on their YouTube channel. When asked about the ongoing saga, they began the conversation and shed light on the matter. ‘The Punk’ kicked things off by illuminating the situation.

He said, “I think it’s a little weird because ‘Wonderboy,’ came out earlier and said, look, I am tired of fighting these wrestlers. But if you are forty years old, Usman is your step. If I am trying to get that title, you have to take that fight.”

The veteran UFC referee further joined Josh Thomson, as he also had something to say. He quoted, ” Everything is a matter of if you are Stephen Thompson, what do you want? You want a shot at the title. If you want a shot at the title, take the fight against Kamaru and beat him. Because now you are putting yourself in that position. If you don’t really care about the shot at the title, then I wouldn’t take the fight against Kamaru.”

He further said, after he heals from his training camp blows, he looks at Madison Square Garden as the ultimate destiny for the bout, saying that would be awesome.
