Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal have a history dating back to UFC London, where both the fighters clashed in a backstage brawl. ‘The Gamebred’ served ‘Rocky’ a three-piece and a soda. Ever since then, the British fighter has been looking to settle this beef inside the octagon. However, just as the promotion was about to set up the fight, Edwards backed off.

This didn’t settle well with Gilbert Burns, who quickly responded by taking a dig at Edwards. He took to his official Twitter account and wrote, “You are scared! You call Masvidal out now you don’t want to fight. And you call me out only when I have a title shot, now is ducking! You are fake”

However, ‘Durinho’ didn’t stop there. He posted another tweet referring to the Edwards’ backstage brawl with Masvidal and called him crazy for denying the fight.

Burns wrote, “Man, this makes zero sense to me. First, the guy hit you with 3 pieces and a on your own country nothing happened. You being asking for this fight for years, last month you just did and now you turn the fight down. It’s just me or this guy doesn’t like to fight? It’s crazy!”

The Brazilian fighter is recently coming off a win against Stephen Thompson at UFC 264. He is willing to get back into the octagon as soon as possible, and this clearly seems a call out for Edwards. Will this fight happen?

However, the promotion has set up a rematch between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington for the welterweight title at UFC 268. Hence, Leon Edwards has been left out of the picture.

Meanwhile, Burns is currently #2 in the welterweight roster, and Edwards is #3. Hence, a square-off between them might be a viable decision for the promotion. Also, the fight will garner a lot of attention from the combat fans as both the men are the most prominent names in the welterweight division.
