‘You Can’t Fight Like It’s a Sparring Session’: Sean Strickland Blasts Judges After Cannonier Loss but Fans Aren’t Having It

Sean Strickland and Jared Cannonier featured in the last UFC bout of the emphatic 2022. The match turned out to be controversial as Jared Cannonier beat Sean Strickland via a split decision. This defeat makes it two in a row for Strickland after winning 6 fights consecutively. However, this fight makes it to a list of controversial fights and decisions by the judges. The UFC middleweight appeared to be disgruntled by the judges’ scores and shared a video on the internet.

This loss resulted in a disappointing end to the year for Strickland. He was looking to bounce back and charge for the middleweight title with a win.

Sean Strickland criticizes the judges following a split decision loss

Following the defeat against Jared Cannonier, Sean Strickland shared his thoughts in a video. He made some controversial statements regarding the officials for his fight. He said, “I’m not a f*****g sore loser, Hats off Jared but you have judges who don’t know how to f*****g do their job.”

The UFC middleweight was clearly agitated by his loss.

He further added, “You actually look at the scorecards. you look at the significant strikes. You look at how many times I wobbled him. And you have experts in the field come up to me and say, ‘Yeah man I don’t know how you lost that one. You landed way more. The scorecards should say it. So anyways I’m gonna shut the f*** up now and get out…”

Sean Strickland’s thoughts may not resonate with the fans

Strickland’s video shared his side of the story. However, some of the fans were not impressed by the UFC middleweight.

Another social media user just disagreed with Strickland’s views and thought that Cannonier won clearly.

He said, “Not robbed lmao.” 

One of the fans commented by giving his scorecard. They scored in favor of Cannonier too. they said, “I felt you lost 4-1 or even 3-2”

Some fans also commented showing some support for the UFC fighter. A fan shared some like-minded opinions with the fighter. He said, “Sick of these f*****g judges…. it’s every damn week.”

Another social media user said, “You will kill it in the next fight.”

Much to Strickland’s amusement, one of the fans asked him, “Sean what would you do to the judges if you had 15 seconds in a room with them”

With a controversial defeat, Strickland had the worst possible ending to his year. A win is what should be on the agenda for the UFC middleweight at the beginning of the calendar year.
