After an impressive comeback win at UFC Fight Night: Aldo vs. Font, Guida challenged Diaz. ‘The Carpenter’ fought veteran Leonardo Santos and was hurt early in the first round. Santos caught him and put him on the back foot. After landing some clean shot, he landed a knee that dropped Guida. The fight was close to being stopped as Santos was landing some vicious ground-and-pound but Guida held on.

The 41-year-old Santos looked visibly gassed at the end of the first round, and Guida capitalized. He came out aggressive in the second round and kept his foot on the gas pedal. After getting a takedown, he locked in a rear-naked choke to finish the 4th-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Leonardo Santos. This was Guida’s 37th career win, and at the post-fight press conference, he called out Nate Diaz.

When asked if he had a name in mind for his next fight, he said, “We just want to stay on the gas pedal, stay active and there’s still one dude out there with our name on him. I beat him once. I’ll give him another chance. Nate Diaz, I know you’re out there. You can’t run. You can’t hide. I know you’re gonna turn the fight down. You probably won’t even know we want to fight you again. But if you ever want to do it again, buddy, I’ll give you a shot at us. So, let me know.”

Both men have met once before at UFC 94. Guida came out on top in that back-and-forth matchup and won by split decision.

Nate Diaz is looking for an opponent

Nate Diaz only has one fight left in his contract and he’s looking for a fight. Dana White at the post-fight press conference after UFC Fight Night 196 announced that Diaz’s contract was up after one fight.

Since then, Diaz has called out all hosts of fighters. However, the UFC seems interested in a matchup between him and Khamzat Chimaev. Stockton’s second son has repeatedly shut down the idea of that matchup. In a recent interview, he said that he felt disrespected by even the thought of this match being made. He said, “They’re coming at me with him and I’m like, don’t disrespect me like that. You’re gonna put me, just try to offer me a fight with a rookie.”

Diaz and Chimaev even took shots at each other on Twitter, with Chimaev even taking a dig at Nick Diaz in one of his posts. Guida is one of the people looking to fight Diaz. It will be interesting to see who the UFC books him against.

Who do you want to see him fight next? Is a fight between Diaz and Guida going to happen? Let us know in the comments!
