UFC light heavyweight title remains vacant after UFC 282 in Las Vegas. The UFC made Ankalaev vs. Blachowicz the main event title fight after Jiri Prochazka pulled out of the Glover Teixeira fight due to a shoulder injury. However, the fight ended in a split draw, leaving the fighters and fans equally disappointed.

Ankalaev came into the fight riding a 9-fight win streak. He had only lost once in his UFC career. Meanwhile, the former champion was coming off a win over Aleksandar Rakic. Blachowicz had only lost one in his last five- his title defense against Glover Teixeira.
