UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev stumped his haters with an emphatic win over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284, thereby retaining the title. Being the protégé of the undefeated, former UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Makhachev has been doing his best to fill his shoes.

While the champion has been away since his first title defense, there have been signs that suggest that Makhachev might show up at UFC 294, which is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi. However, he has been facing a lot of backlash from the internet after he tweeted about the current CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk.

The UFC Lightweight called out the CEO of Twitter in his latest tweet and expressed his dissatisfaction about the fact that his account was not verified. The fans took no time at all to roast the Lightweight champion.

Another fan refused to address him as the real champion of the LW division.

However, surprisingly, a lot of the comments were directed at Makhachev being ‘cheap’ himself as the comments pointed out the ‘irony’ in his tweet.

One comment was directed at how Makhachev barely managed to secure a win over Volkanovski, insinuating that it was anything but a decisive victory.

However, not everyone was as harsh with the LW champion. One person showed their support through a heartwarming comment.

Conor McGregor’s teammate and Welterweight fighter Dillon Danis wasted no time in bad-mouthing the champion through a tweet of his own, thereby reigniting the famed McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov rivalry.

But it isn’t too surprising to see McGregor’s teammate take a dig at Nurmagomedov’s protégé, Makhachev. After all, both sides are known to go all out in rivalries.

Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the UFC undefeated and Conor McGregor has been away from the Octagon for a while. However, their respective proteges still seem to be brandishing their war flags. McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis took a jibe at, Islam Makhachev, on Twitter. The last time the two confronted each other was after Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor via submission and the fight spilled out of the cage.

However, Danis is with Bellator MMA and a clash between him and Islam Makhachev doesn’t seem like a possibility.
