Colby Covington was one of the most talked about fighters from UFC 286 who didn’t even feature in the event. ‘Chaos’ was a mere attendance in the crowd while also being a backup to the UFC welterweight championship. After not getting the chance to fight as both fighters made weight, Covington watched the fight as a spectator while also hoping to get a call out from the resulting champion. However, that was not the case, as Leon Edwards did not call out Covington much to ruin the mood of the former champion.

As a result, ‘Chaos’ didn’t hold back when he was asked about his take on some of the incidents that happened at the UFC 286 main event. Covington answered what he deemed was the truth in the recent interview going soft on former rival Kamaru Usman.

Colby Covington bashes Leon Edwards over the unfair advantage

‘Chaos’ recently appeared in an interview with Submission Radio on their YouTube Channel. The former Interim champion gave his opinion on the fence-grabbing incident that happened at UFC 286. Covington was asked what would he want “a point or the position” if his opponent grabbed the fence.

Covington answered, “Yeah, I want the position. I don’t need the point.” Covington champion added, “If I’m in the position I’m gonna wear on you. I’m gonna advance positions looking to submit you. I’m gonna look to get some good little strikes off where you have to work extra hard to get out of that position and then I’m right back in your face striking.”

Additionally, ‘Chaos’ bashed the UFC champion for taking advantage of the situation.

Covington continued, “So to take a point, stop the action and then give him a breather so he can catch his breath, talk to his coaches. You see him looking directly at his corner. trying to get coaching advice and this and that so, of course, I don’t want the point I want the position.”

Covington also revealed that he discussed the same rule with one of his coaches. He added in the interview that after the event; he spoke to Charlie Weis about the same and mentioned that they were not even aware of the rule. Covington reiterated his point of wanting the position more than the point during the fight.
