Khabib Nurmagomedov is excited about the upcoming Eagle FC event. Eagle FC 46, which is just around the corner, will witness former UFC fighters Kevin Lee and Diego Sanchez clash for the first time. However, what is interesting about this bout is that they will be fighting in the 165-pound weight class.

Henry Cejudo, Chael Sonnen, Kamaru Usman, and Khabib spoke about some interesting aspects of the event during the pre-fight show. Sonnen asked Usman to comment on ‘The Eagle’ introducing a 165-pound weight class. It turns out, Lee had pitched the idea to the UFC and a few other fighters even backed him.

According to ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’, this could have been so that the fighters wouldn’t have to deal with him.

Speaking about this, Usman said, “I’m a little bit mad at Khabib for being able to, being the first to really step out here and do this because now you start to take food off my plate, you know. Now you’re starting something and next thing you know, it might spread like wildfire. UFC might decide, ‘You know what? Yeah, let’s adopt that’. And now, I’m starting to lose contenders.”

“So, but now I’m excited because you give some of those guys that are hanging out in between those weight classes. You give them an opportunity for them to really excel. And that’s what I think we’re going to see here with guys like Kevin Lee.”

Cejudo joined in the conversation and opined that a five-pound weight difference can be big. So the new division could be a great opportunity for fighters stuck between lightweight and welterweight. ‘Triple C’ feels that Lee versus Sanchez will be ‘non-stop action’.

The four personalities were seated inside the cage during the pre-fight show. So with the event just hours later, their discussion regarding the fights makes it even more interesting.
