UFC young blood Khamzat Chimaev met the legendary Georges St-Pierre at a recent MMA event. Chimaev shared his excitement about meeting GSP on his social media as well. However, as their pictures went viral, fans ingeniously added Khabib Nurmagomedov to the conversation.

A super fight between ‘The Eagle’ and St-Pierre is one of MMA’s many fights that were too good to come true. Now, in an instance that has nothing to do with Nurmagomedov, the fight has been brought up again.

Khamzat Chimaev ran into the 41-year-old St-Pierre at the 2022 PFL Championships. Images of the pair interacting with each other are already viral among MMA fans. ‘MMA Junkie’ posted an image of the same and asked fans to guess what the pair were conversing about. One fan had an interesting answer.

“You would have smashed Khabib,” said the cheeky response.

To add some context, Khabib Nurmagomedov once revealed that a GSP versus himself was his late father’s dream fight. However, the fight never came to fruition. St-Pierre once revealed the reason the fight never materialized. Nevertheless, both athletes have always held each other in the highest regard.

While GSP and Khamzat seemed to have had a cordial encounter at the PFL event, the former two-division champion had some strong words for ‘Borz’ after the UFC 279 debacle.

Throwback to GSP’s comments on Chimaev’s UFC 279 weight miss

Back in September, Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz were set to collide at UFC 279. The fight attracted a lot of attention for two main reasons. To begin with, it was Diaz’s last fight on his UFC contract. Additionally, many fans considered the fight a terrible mismatch.

However, the controversial fight did not come to fruition after Chimaev missed weight. Ultimately, Diaz fought Tony Ferguson and exited with a win. As for Chimaev, he made quick work of Kevin Holland to draw the curtains on his UFC 279 outing.

” When you miss weight, it’s a big disrespect not only to your opponent but to the sport,” commented GSP on Chimaev’s weight miss. The Canadian fighter acknowledged that there might be valid reasons for missing weight. He added Chimaev could cost himself title opportunities if he missed weight in the future.

It would also be interesting to note that Chimaev had called out GSP for a super-fight in 2021. However, GSP has stayed committed to his retirement so far.
