In one episode #484 for the JRE, the UFC commentator attended the co-founder and executive chairman of the social media site Reddit, Alexis Ohanian. Moreover, Ohanian also happens to be the husband of tennis ace, Serena Williams.

The prolonged conversation saw the pair discuss the whole journey of Ohanian as well as controversies related to social media and the internet. Moreover, Ohanian also shared some personal details about himself and his genetics.

Joe Rogan was stunned to learn about Alexis Ohanian’s DNA

The conversation started with Joe Rogan praising Ohanian for his accomplishments with Reddit as well as having achieved his “American Dream”. While referring to the same, the host said, “well what’s the American dream right? I mean the American dream where your parents, somewhere in their past, either their parents or their parents parents, came over from Armenia.”

Ohanian then revealed that his birthday falls on the same day as the remembrance day of the Armenian genocide [24th April]. The entrepreneur then revealed his ancestry. He said, “I’m half Armenian. On my father’s side, I’m full-on Armenian. On my mother’s side, I’m full-on German. She actually immigrated. She was fresh off the boat from Deutschland.”

When did Ohanian first meet Serena Williams?

Ohanian and Williams were sharing the same hotel in Rome called the Cavalieri. The tennis ace was there for the Italian Open. Meanwhile, the businessman was attending the Media Global Conference. 

They met at the hotel restaurant when Ohanian came and sat next to Williams’ table. However, after a brief conversation, the grand slam champion invited the entrepreneur to sit with her, and the rest is history.
