Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will return to the fold after sustaining a highly publicized concussion last year. The 25-year-old even mentioned that he considered retirement in the wake of his injury troubles. But he is busy engaging in other activities as well. He recently appeared in a press conference and mentioned that he has started taking Jiu-Jitsu training as well.
Tua Tagovailoa has not had the best year so far. He has been plagued with multiple injuries to the head and his NFL career seems to be in jeopardy. He even missed the opportunity to debut in the playoff. However, he seems to be working on his injuries and taking preventive measures to avoid such injuries in the future.

The 25-year-old quarterback recently revealed that he is taking jiu-jitsu classes and learning how to fall. He said, “[I am] still a white belt. I just started.” When asked about his learnings, he said, “Obviously learned how to fall, learned some grappling techniques [and] learned some other things too that I don’t think I should disclose.”

Tagovailoa mentioned that people may think learning to fall is easy. But that is far from the truth. He said, “You think it’s easy, ‘Just don’t fall and hit your head’. But there is a lot more to it.” He did not disclose much information regarding his training. But many people believe that Tagovailoa may not be diving too deep to learn complex fighting techniques.
‘Uno’ reveals what he learned from judo
Reporters asked how Tua Tagovailoa the process of his judo training, which he started before taking up jiu-jitsu. ‘Uno’ said, “We used crashpads to land on first. We’re trying to fall, obviously with tucking your chin.” He added that his training was focused more on energy dispersion.

Tua Tagovailoa also mentioned that it was “cool” for him to learn how to fall. He is still in the early stages of his martial art journey; as a white belt, he’s got a long way to go.

NFL quarterbacks may follow Tagovailoa’s example if jiu-jitsu helps them avoid the head injuries that ruined his 2022 season. Fans will have to wait and see if martial arts can really help athletes to cope better with the dangerous injuries that happen on the playing field.
