Jon Jones has been out of action since last year. After moving up to heavyweight and winning the heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane in March last year, the champ was scheduled to face Stipe Miocic, considered the heavyweight GOAT in a potentially legacy-defining fight at UFC 295 in November last year. Despite his absence from the sport, there is never a dull moment with the heavyweight champ, as he has been active on social media, even fighting with fans online. And the 36-year-old shared another interesting post on his Instagram, which prompted a back-and-forth with an NFL player.

Jon Jones lives in New Mexico, one of the Mountain States, famous for its stunning landscapes and diverse forests and woodlands. Further, the GOAT contender lives in the picturesque city of Albuquerque, known for its sunny days and blue skies, situated next to the beautiful Sandia Mountains and woods.

This is why it was no surprise to see a bear casually walk into the UFC heavyweight champion’s driveway at 4 in the morning. Least surprised was ‘Bones’ himself, who shared the video and chalked it down to part of living in New Mexico. “OK, tell me you live in New Mexico, without telling me you live in New Mexico. Heres a black bear in my driveway this morning at 4 AM. 👀,” he captioned the clip.

The post caught the attention of the Buffalo Bills’ newly signed defensive end, Gable Steveson, who joked that the heavyweight champ should have put his world-class grappling skills to good use and choked out the bear. “Shoulda went out there and choked em out lol,” the NFL star commented on Jones’ post.

Jones was amused and replied to Steveson’s comment, observing that the footballer would have more success than him in trying to choke out the bear, undoubtedly indirectly referencing the defensive end’s impressive 6’1″, 260+ pound frame. “@gablesteveson you would have a much better chance against that guy than me. Let’s be real,” Jones replied.

While Jones may not have wrestled the bear, he came close to wrestling with the next best thing: Francis Ngannou last year. Though they didn’t get to fight, UFC CEO Dana White is sure he knows what the outcome would have been.

Dana White thinks Jon Jones would have defeated Ngannou with ease

Amid calls for Jones to fight interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, ‘Bones’ has insisted that he would be fighting Stipe Miocic as originally planned. While Jones-Aspinall may be the most awaited matchup in the UFC at the moment, there was another fighter fans wanted to see Jones fight before Aspinall: Francis Ngannou.

Ngannou, of course, was the heavyweight champion when Jones was moving up to the UFC’s heaviest division. With Ngannou’s concussive, one-punch knockout power going up against Jones’ wiliness and dangerous ground game, it was a mouth-watering matchup for fans. However, with Ngannou’s acrimonious exit from the promotion last year and Jones signing a long-term contract with the UFC, the chances of Jones-Ngannou are non-existent.

UFC CEO Dana White, however, is confident that the GOAT contender would have made short work of ‘The Predator’ if they had fought, just as Jones did with Ciryl Gane at their UFC 285 bout in March last year. “He went through Ciryl Gane like that – easily. In my opinion, he does the same thing to Francis. One hundred percent. He does the same thing to Francis. Francis didn’t want to fight Jon Jones. Jon Jones is the scariest, most bad-ass fighter of all time,” White told Shannon Sharpe on the latter’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast.
