Taylor Swift has somehow become arguably the second most polarizing figure in America. The pop star, who is perhaps the most popular figure in America today, is involved in a romantic relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, which took the internet by storm.

Swift, who attends all of her boyfriend’s games (including Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday), has polarized football fans, a section of whom has expressed their frustration at Swift being constantly shown on cameras at every game she attends. This, they feel, takes the attention away from the game, which they feel should be the focus. And amid conspiracy theories that she may have a ‘deep-state psyop’ as well as a plea from Donald Trump for her not to endorse his rival Joe Biden for their upcoming Presidential race, UFC commentator and former champion Michael Bisping, despite not even liking or knowing much about football or pop music, is one of those people.

On his ‘Believe You Me’ podcast, Michael Bisping was joined by UFC’s lead commentator Jon Anik. During the course of the podcast, the two men got on the topic of the Super Bowl and Taylor Swift. Bisping told his fellow commentator that while he was not a big American football fan, he did watch the Super Bowl on Sunday.

The former middleweight champion confessed his ignorance of the sport and did not want to talk about the game much. He confessed that he had wanted the San Francisco 49ers to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, because he was frustrated at the presence of Taylor Swift, for whom he had surprisingly strong words of condemnation.

“I’m not an American football fan but I did sit down and watch the Super Bowl last night… I mean you’re not gonna get any analysis from me, I did want San Francisco 49ers to win simply because I’m sick of this Taylor Swift nonsense, right? And of course San Francisco’s in California so I guess, you know I’m an imported Californian. So I’m like f**k Kansas City Chiefs and f**k Taylor Swift,” Bisping said.

Unfortunately for him, Bisping’s favored 49ers lost Super Bowl LVIII to the Kansas City Chiefs 25-22 in a close game that saw the Chiefs lift the Lombardy Trophy for the third time in five years. Their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the third MVP of his career. To make matters worse, Taylor Swift joined Kelce and the Chiefs on the field to celebrate their win. Jon Anik, however, defended Swift and felt the blame was being misappropriated.

Jon Anik pointed out that while his daughters were not as big Swift fans as they were earlier, his oldest still watched the Super Bowl because of the pop star’s presence. The commentator pointed out to Bisping that the reason Swift was attending NFL games was because she was dating Travis Kelce.

And the reason she was dating Kelce was because the latter approached her and initiated their relationship. Therefore, according to Anik, if there is anyone to blame for her getting the attention she gets when she attends games, it is Kelce.

“My daughters used to be bigger Swifties than they are right now, but certainly my eldest daughter was interested in the result of this game because of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. But let us be clear, Travis Kelce was pursuant of a relationship with Taylor Swift, it wasn’t like the roles were reversed. So, yeah, man I find it a little bit off-putting that they’re taking every chance director to show her on camera but this was largely Travis Kelce’s doing. So if there’s anybody to blame I think it’s number 87,” he added.
