Apart from grizzly bears, there are few things that can surprise Joe Rogan. But on one of the latest episodes of his podcast, the veteran UFC commentator learned something about NFL star turned coach Deion Sanders that left him in awe.

Ever since its inception in 2009, Rogan’s podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ has introduced the world to some of the most bizarre stories. Although many of these leave fans with raised eyebrows and queasy stomachs, they have little effect on Rogan. Well, unless it involves grizzly bears. So, what is it about Sanders that is so surprising it can dumbfounded Joe Rogan?

An incident from Deion Sanders’ biography left Joe Rogan shocked

On one of the latest episodes of Joe Rogan’s JRE MMA Show, Sean O’Malley recalled the incident when NFL and MLB star Deion Sanders attempted suicide. Alongside his coach Tim Welch, the recently crowned UFC Bantamweight champion had joined Rogan on his podcast. In Sugar’s own words: “I was watching this Deion Sanders little documentary on YouTube, and he attempted to take his own life after his Super Bowl experience. He tried to drive his car off a cliff.”

Surprised by O’Malley’s revelation, Rogan expressed his astonishment in response, evident from his “Oh my God” interruption during his guest’s narration. Deion Sanders, the only athlete in history to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series, is undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime athlete. He was one of the best cornerbacks in NFL history, with nine All-Pro selections and eight Pro Bowl appearances. He was also named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1994.

Considering Sanders’ achievements in not one, but two sports, as well as his outspoken personality, this revelation comes as a surprise. However, like anyone else, even someone as great as him could have had low moments in life. The aforementioned incident occurred in 1997 when Sanders drove his car off a cliff after a period of mental struggle. Surprisingly, the star athlete survived the fall without a single scratch.

Aljamain Sterling is demanding a rematch against Sean O’Malley

At the main event of UFC 292, Sean O’Malley did the unthinkable when he knocked out Aljamain Sterling in the second round. The Montana native entered the fight as a massive underdog, but ‘Sugar’ proved the matchmakers wrong and captured the 135lb throne. As for Sterling, the Jamaican-American athlete was hoping to secure his fourth title defense in a row. However, the New Yorker was left nursing his wounds.

But now, a little more than a month after the fateful event, the former champion is already demanding a rematch. Recently, ‘Funkmaster’ was seen in a grappling match against Mike Grundy, which the former wrestler won after 10 minutes of grappling. After this triumph, the former NCAA wrestler took the opportunity to call out O’Malley. Issuing the challenge, the fighter asked the new champ to either fight him or face his teammate, Merab Dvalishvili. Will he get his wish granted? Only time will tell!
