‘The African Nightmare’ makes headlines again! Former UFC Welterweight champ Kamaru Usman has turned many heads after his recent clip went viral on social media. But the highlight of the video is not Usman – rather it’s an NFL star that stole the spotlight.
Ever since his fight with Khamzat Chimaev went down the drain, fans were waiting to see Usman in action. However, seems like the UFC doesn’t have any immediate plans for the Nigerian. In the meantime, the 36-year-old is relishing his time away from the octagon. ‘The African Nightmare’ was recently spotted holding pads for NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. aka ‘OBJ.’

Kamaru Usman is ‘OBJ’s new MMA trainer?
In a recently surfaced video on social media, former Welterweight champ and ‘OBJ’ are spotted training at Goat Shed Academy in Miami, Florida. While Usman and the NFL star were both drenched in sweat, it was evident that ‘OBJ’ was putting more work in.

Surprisingly, Usman was holding the boxing mitts for the 30-year-old footballer. However, this is not the first time that their paths have crossed. Back in Sep. 2022, Usman and the NFL star were also spotted chilling at the New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers match.
‘OBJ’ shares a solid bond with some big UFC names like Israel Adesanya, Alexander Volkanovski, and of course, Kamaru Usman. A couple of weeks ago, the American footballer was spotted partying with the ‘Stylebender,’ who had just defeated his arch-nemesis Alex Pereira at UFC 287. Moreover, ever since his move to the Baltimore Ravens made him $15 million dollars richer, things are going pretty well for the wide receiver.

On the other hand, Kamaru Usman is still recuperating from his loss at UFC 286. The reigning champ was expecting to defend his title for the sixth time against Leon Edwards. But as the match unfolded, it left fans and MMA gurus in shock. Usman was leading on the scorecards, and it seemed like the fight would go to the judges’ decision.
But with a disruptive head kick to ‘The African Nightmare,’ Edwards turned the tide of the match. In the final round of the epic clash, ‘Rocky’ knocked out Usman, with just a minute left to fight. The upset that took many by surprise cemented Edwards as the new Welterweight king of the UFC.

What’s more – in a recent interview, Usman shared his take on why his fight with ‘Borz’ did not materialize. He explained, “There’s a lot of logistical things, not necessarily on my end of why it didn’t happen.” Though it’s quite unclear as to what his statement refers to, it may point to the fact that the UFC was simply not interested – just as Dana White himself had said in an interview.

With Khamzat Chimaev now booked for a fight with Paulo Costa, Usman’s long-held wish to square off with ‘Borz’ remains a dream. Moreover, in both of his face-offs with ‘Rocky,’ Usman has not been able to settle the score.
