Last month, ONE Championship announced a mixed rules bout between Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Ever since then, it has become one of the most talked-about topics. Especially after another ONE Championship superstar, Superbon Banchamek revealed that he is open to a mixed rules bout against the UFC superstar, Conor McGregor.

Johnson and Rodtang will clash in half MMA and half Muay Thai bout. It will comprise four three-minute rounds from which round one and three will take place under Muay Thai rules and round two and four under MMA rules. The pair will clash at ONE: X, the ONE Championship 10th-anniversary event, which will take place on December 05, 2021, in Singapore.

Every combat sports fan is excited to see ‘Mighty Mouse’ in action under this special rules fight. One such person also includes Superbon Banchamek, who is so excited that he also wants to have mixed rules bout in his career. And the opponent he wants is none other than the UFC mega-star Conor McGregor.

In his media day interview for his upcoming bout, Superbon said – “Well, it’s quite a new thing for me because I’ve never seen this kind of mixed rules fight before. Rodtang is very good in Muay Thai, while DJ is great in MMA. So they’ve got the things that they need to do.” 

“If I have a chance, I’d be interested too. I don’t know when, but I’d love to do that. I haven’t tried MMA yet. But if you asked me [who I’d like to fight], I’d say Conor McGregor because I think I could beat him down.” – said Superbon on who he would want as his opponent for a mixed rules bout.

Superbon is one of the best rising kickboxing prospects in the ONE Championship featherweight division. As of October 2021, he sits at #2 in the ONE Championship featherweight divisional rankings.

Now, he will clash against the #1 ranked featherweight kickboxer, Giorgio Petrosyan, for the inaugural ONE Kickboxing Featherweight Championship. Superbon vs. Petrosyan will take place on October 15, 2021, at ONE: First Strike in Singapore.
