There is no love lost between Dana White and Francis Ngannou. The ex-UFC star left the promotion after failed contract negotiations and ended up joining a rival MMA promotion, the PFL. However, the UFC is taking extra steps to not mention anything about Ngannou’s name. It became apparent in a recent episode of the ‘UFC 294 Embedded: Vlog Series’.
Francis Ngannou wanted more out of his UFC contract. He wanted to have the freedom to pursue other endeavors while also being a part of Dana White’s promotion. However, Ngannou did not get what he wanted and decided to leave, and now, the UFC is actively trying to erase him from their history.

Kamaru Usman has always had a great relationship with Francis Ngannou. Both fighters support each other. It was evident when ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ sported a T-shirt that had Ngannou on it in the third episode of the ‘UFC 294 Embedded: Vlog Series’. However, the UFC may not have been too fond of seeing Usman wear that shirt and decided to do something about it.

UFC even tried to erase Ngannou’s Cameroonian roots
Francis Ngannou’s fractured relationship with Dana White has led the UFC to dismiss him as one of the fighters from Cameroon to have competed in the promotion. Besides, the first Cameroonian fighter to fight inside the Octagon was Thierry Sokoudjou, and after that was ‘The Predator’. However, the UFC totally disregarded that and deemed another fighter to be the first from the Central African nation.

Tafon Nchukwi fought A.J. Dobson at UFC Vegas 78. As he made his way to the Octagon, they introduced him as the first Cameroonian fighter in the history of the promotion. This seemingly caught the attention of Francis Ngannou. He slammed the promotion for not recognizing Sokoudjou amidst their beef with ‘The Predator’.
Francis Ngannou has often been there to support Kamaru Usman in his fights. However, his ongoing complications with the UFC will most likely keep him away from attending any future events of Dana White’s promotion. We will have to wait and see what more ways they try to keep the former UFC champion out of their history books.
