Conor McGregor Offers a Lifeline to Much-Maligned Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich Amidst Chelsea Talks

Conor McGregor is one of the biggest superstars in the history of combat sports. Besides being a top fighter; McGregor is an ardent soccer fan and has revealed his interest in purchasing a club.

When Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale, Conor McGregor took to his Twitter to show his interest in buying the champions league winning side.

He wrote, “I wish to explore this,” and added a screenshot of a chat in which he wrote, “Chelsea for sale £3 billion… Let’s buy it.”

Chelsea, the 2021 UEFA champions league winner, is one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world. However, as McGregor currently has a reported net worth of $200 million, he cannot possibly buy the club without a partner.

Also, his love for Manchester United may prevent such a deal, but McGregor remains a businessman and might not pass such an opportunity.

Will Conor McGregor get a title fight next?

‘The Notorious’ has been out of UFC action ever since his tragic loss against Dustin Poirier last year. In their trilogy bout at UFC 264, McGregor lost the fight after he broke his leg in the opening round of the bout.

After his injury, Conor has taken time away from fighting to rest and recover so that he can get back to action as soon as possible. McGregor will look to make his UFC return this year.

The Irishman recently put out a tweet that hinted at him getting a title fight on his return. He wrote,” Really pumped for my next fight title fight!”

Most fans think that McGregor will land a title fight on his return against the winner of Charles Oliveira vs. Justin Gaethje. If Oliveira wins, McGregor might land the bout since he has been promoting the fight ever since UFC 269.
