After their fight, Ramos went backstage to meet Topuria. The former Real Madrid captain congratulated ‘El Matador’ with a hug. Ilia Topuria was interviewed by The MMA Hour and at that interview, Topuria explained why and how Sergio Ramos came to visit him at the fight. “One year ago or something like that, he texted me after one of my fights. He started to follow me [on social media], text me, and for this fight he told me I’m going to watch you, to support you,” said Topuria.

He further added “I was like, ‘Really? You will come?’ He told me, ‘Yes, I’m on vacation. I didn’t have any football match, soccer match, so I’m going to go to watch you fight.” Ramos delivered on his promise, and ͏in return, he enjoyed a compelling five-round performance from Topuria, potentially ͏propelling him into contention for the top spot.
