Tim Kennedy shares a post on the 2022 World Aquatics Championships incident

Anita Alvarez is a two-time bronze medal-winning swimmer. However, during the championship in Budapest, she lost consciousness inside the swimming pool during her solo free final. The lack of movement of her body scared the whole stadium. Tim Kennedy, who has been active on social media as of late, shared on a post on Instagram about the incident. As per Kennedy, lifeguards were present, but her coach and four-time Olympic medalist, Andrea Fuentes, was there to save the day.

Fuentes was fully clothed when she decided to take a dive after realizing the danger her student was in. She pulled Alvarez to safety. Tim Kennedy claimed that the 26-year-old swimmer suffered a shallow water blackout – a common occurrence during Special Operations Training. He praised the coach for her act of bravery and shared a few words about the importance of coaches. Kennedy wrote, “Some coaches don’t do it for money or recognition. They do it for the love of sport and the love of their athlete.”

Former UFC champions and fans react to Kennedy’s post

Tim Kennedy’s post drew in comments from a couple of former UFC champions as well. The former women’s bantam champion, Miesha Tate, claimed that coaches are just like parents. She said, “Good coaches are highly underrated they are like a 2nd parent.”

The UFC’s first-ever heavyweight champion, Mark Coleman, praised Andrea Fuentes’ courageous act. He reckoned that people should always be ready to deal with such mishaps. Coleman said, “awesome stay ready always.”

Many fans also shared their appreciation for the coach.
